Bruno Mars Returns After Decade
Bruno Mars released *The Romantic*, his first album in a decade, leaning heavily into nostalgia over experimentation. Critics describe it as "sleek and professional" with classic pop and R&B stylings that favor throwback sensibilities. The album marks a deliberate embrace of his earlier sound rather than pushing creative boundaries.
The artist's last solo project, 2016's *24K Magic*, was a critical and commercial juggernaut. The album swept the 2018 Grammy Awards, winning in all six categories it was nominated for, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year. During his solo hiatus, Mars formed the superduo Silk Sonic with Anderson .Paak. Their 2021 collaborative album, *An Evening with Silk Sonic*, received universal acclaim and produced the single "Leave the Door Open," which hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Mars has also maintained a commanding presence in Las Vegas with a residency at Park MGM that began in 2016. The highly successful show has grossed over $124.5 million and won the Billboard Music Award for Top R&B Tour in 2022. The new album's lead single, "I Just Might," gave Mars his first-ever No. 1 debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. To celebrate the album's launch, Mars hosted a three-day "The Romantic Flower Shop" pop-up event in Los Angeles, offering free flowers and exclusive merchandise. While the lead single features his signature '70s funk sound, the full album explores new territory by incorporating Latin music styles. Inspired by his Puerto Rican heritage, songs like "Risk It All" and "Cha Cha Cha" feature mariachi, salsa, and bolero elements. Mars is scheduled to support the new record with an extensive 71-show concert series. "The Romantic Tour" is set to run from April to October 2026, with stops across North America and Europe.
