SiteGround Launches AI App Builder for SMBs

Web hosting platform SiteGround has launched Coderick AI, a new tool aimed at making custom software development accessible for small businesses. The AI app builder is designed to remove the technical and financial hurdles that typically prevent small companies from creating their own applications.

SiteGround's new AI app builder is the latest step in the company's evolution from a web hosting provider to an all-in-one platform. This strategy includes an AI-assisted website builder, an integrated e-commerce solution, and email marketing tools, all designed to create a unified ecosystem for small businesses. Coderick AI itself is part of a growing "vibe coding" trend, where users can build applications by describing their needs in a conversational chat interface. Before the launch of Coderick AI, SiteGround introduced AI Studio, a workspace that gives customers access to various AI models like ChatGPT and Gemini, along with over 15 specialized "AI agents" for tasks like WordPress management, marketing, and content creation. This earlier product signaled SiteGround's direction of integrating AI to solve practical business problems for its user base. The company's CEO, Nikolay Todorov, has emphasized that this is about providing tools that offer a competitive advantage, not just chasing trends. What sets Coderick AI apart from many other AI app builders is its "production-ready" output. While some tools generate prototypes that require separate hosting and configuration, Coderick builds applications directly on SiteGround's enterprise-grade infrastructure. This means features like hosting, database setup, version control, and security are all handled in a single, streamlined process. The platform is designed to significantly reduce the time and cost of custom software development, which can often range from $30,000 to over $300,000 for small to medium-sized businesses. A webinar demonstrated the platform building a staff scheduling app, a vet clinic website with a booking system, and recreating a real estate website from a screenshot, all through natural language prompts. Competitors in the no-code and AI-assisted space include platforms like Bubble and Softr. Bubble is known for its high degree of customization for complex web apps but has a steeper learning curve. Softr excels at creating simpler tools and client portals from existing databases and is generally considered easier for beginners to use. Coderick AI aims to find a middle ground by simplifying the creation process while providing a robust, all-in-one backend infrastructure. Looking ahead, SiteGround's vision is to further democratize software development for those without technical expertise or large budgets. Future developments for Coderick AI, as discussed in a company webinar, are expected to include expanded support for third-party API integrations, allowing the AI-generated applications to connect with a wider range of external services and tools.
