Gurugram road relief plans
Gurugram’s Metropolitan Development Authority announced road decongestion works including new service lanes and a connectivity upgrade from Subhash Chowk to SPR to improve traffic flow (announcement on official GMDA channel, March 2026) (x.com).
GMDA has floated a ₹755 crore tender to build a 4.2‑km signal‑free elevated corridor linking the NH‑48/Kherki Daula area with Vatika Chowk, with officials saying the work must be completed within 30 months of award. (indianexpress.com) The project layout specified an 8‑lane elevated deck (4+4) plus 3+3 primary service roads and 2+2 secondary service lanes, and it includes two‑lane up/down ramps and interchanges at NH‑48 and a proposed Vatika Chowk interchange. (hindustantimes.com) Separately, GMDA has floated multiple service‑road tenders along the metro alignment, including a ₹2.5 crore package for the Subhash Chowk–Candor SEZ link; that Subhash Chowk tender is due to be opened on April 6 and requires completion within six months of allotment. (hindustantimes.com) The authority has also floated tenders to pave about 6 km of SPR from Ghata to Vatika Chowk (₹6.95 crore) and a ₹6.70 crore service‑road package on the Palam Vihar side (Rezangla Chowk–Krishna Chowk) with the latter tender to be opened on April 9. (hindustantimes.com) GMDA and Gurugram Traffic Police have already imposed interim closures and diversions for related works: the crossing between Sectors 75–76 was closed for roughly a month and drain works on the SPR are expected to affect Sectors 74–80 for up to about 60 days, with traffic being routed via the Kherki Daula cloverleaf. (indianexpress.com) The project estimate includes an allocation of around ₹40 crore for utility shifting (high‑tension power lines and underground pipelines), and the tender documents invite bids for development as well as long‑term operation and maintenance of the corridor.
