Amazon Web Services has made its managed multicloud network link generally available, starting with private connections between AWS and Google Cloud. AWS said it provides a private, managed Layer 3 connection — network routing rather than raw fiber — between Amazon Virtual Private Clouds and other cloud providers, with Google Cloud available now and Microsoft Azure due later in 2026. (aws.amazon.com) AWS said traffic on these links stays on the AWS global backbone and the partner cloud’s private network instead of crossing the public internet. The company also said the connections include dedicated bandwidth, built-in resiliency, and Media Access Control Security, or MACsec, encryption on the physical links. AWS documentation says users no longer need to configure physical or virtual routers, order cross-connects, or manage Border Gateway Protocol peering to set up these cloud-to-cloud links. AWS said those setups have often relied on do-it-yourself combinations of virtual private networks, colocation facilities, and third-party network fabrics.
