Slice House Pizza to Open in Fremont

The pizza chain Slice House, founded by 13-time World Pizza Champion Tony Gemignani, will be opening a new location in Fremont, California. The fast-casual restaurant is set to replace the former Dog Haus at 43456 Boscell Road. The new establishment will offer a variety of pizza options.

- Founder Tony Gemignani is a Fremont native who graduated from Washington High School and began his career in 1991 at his brother's restaurant, Pyzano's, in nearby Castro Valley. - The new location will be operated by franchisees Hersh Mahavni and Pritika Rajasanshi, who both grew up in the Fremont area. - In addition to whole pies, the menu will feature various pizza styles sold by the slice, including New York, Sicilian, Detroit, and Grandma-style. - One of the notable menu items at other locations is the Cal Italia pizza, a gold medal winner at the Food Network Pizza Champions Challenge which features gorgonzola, sweet fig preserve, and prosciutto di Parma. - Tony Gemignani was the first American and non-Neapolitan to win the title of World Champion Pizza Maker at the World Pizza Cup in Naples, Italy, in 2007. - The Fremont restaurant is part of a major national expansion for the brand, which currently has over 135 locations in states including California, Nevada, Texas, and Tennessee. - Beyond pizza, the fast-casual menu will also offer fresh pastas, wings, salads, and meatball subs. - The opening is anticipated in the "coming months," according to a recent liquor license application for the Pacific Commons Shopping Center location.
