New Platforms Automate Govtech Procurement Intel
Two new platforms have launched to streamline govtech procurement. Menlo Ventures announced it led the Series A for NationGraph, an AI platform that indexes over 110,000 government agencies to automate intelligence gathering from RFPs and budgets. Separately, ShipYard HQ launched GovTech Tenders, a free tool for browsing government IT contracts.
- NationGraph's $18 million Series A funding round was led by Menlo Ventures with participation from Perplexity's Fund, XYZ Venture Capital, and Reach Capital, bringing the company's total funding to $22.5 million. The new capital is earmarked for hiring engineers and go-to-market professionals to scale the platform. - The company was founded in 2024 by CEO Kimia Hamidi, who previously founded a price intelligence platform acquired by Ramp, and CTO Eden Ding, who formerly specialized in large-scale data at Citadel. - NationGraph's platform provides predictive intelligence by analyzing millions of public sector sources, including meeting minutes, budgets, and strategic documents, to surface purchasing signals before an RFP is even issued. - A core problem being addressed is the significant information asymmetry in the public sector market, where data across 110,000 agencies is locked in unstructured documents and disparate portals, making it difficult for new vendors to compete. - The global govtech market is estimated to be worth over $400 billion, with U.S. state and local governments alone spending more than $103 billion on IT annually. - Government procurement is notoriously challenging due to bureaucratic complexity, lengthy approval processes, and strict regulatory compliance, which can stifle the adoption of innovative technology. - Competing platforms are also emerging; for instance, Starbridge raised $42 million late last year to provide similar AI-driven intelligence services for the public sector.
