"Crimson Moth" was a New York Times bestseller for 11 weeks, and its success was considered surprising as it wasn't initially expected to be a major release. The TikTok community, specifically the #BookTok hashtag with over 243 billion views, has become a major force in the publishing industry. This platform has been credited with launching authors' careers and significantly impacting the sales of both new and older titles. The success of many recent fantasy releases can be directly attributed to their viral popularity on the platform. Tahereh Mafi's "This Woven Kingdom," another fantasy series with strong romantic elements, sold 13,576 copies in its first week alone, demonstrating the strong market for new fantasy releases. Mafi's earlier "Shatter Me" series also became a viral sensation on TikTok, indicating a sustained interest in her work. The inclusion of Liz Tomforde's sports romance novels in fantasy recommendation lists points to a broader trend of readers enjoying genre-blending stories and being open to recommendations across different categories. Tomforde is a New York Times bestselling author known for contemporary romance. In contrast to the fantasy trend, "Theo of Golden: A Novel" by Allen Levi is his debut in literary fiction.
