Chelsea to host a mini flower farm
The 2026 RHS Chelsea Flower Show will feature its first‑ever mini flower farm in the Great Pavilion — 'Flowers from the Farm' will run live demos and interactive sessions to teach small‑scale cut‑flower cultivation. Breeder Raymond Evison will also debut three new dwarf clematis varieties aimed at small and urban gardens. ( )
Flowers from the Farm (FFTF) was founded in 2011 and describes itself as a UK trade association promoting financially and environmentally sustainable local cut‑flower growing, with members from Cornwall to Inverness. (flowersfromthefarm.co.uk (flowersfromthefarm.co.uk)) The miniature installation measures about 6 × 5 metres (20 × 15 ft) and is being planted using block‑planting arranged in a Fibonacci‑inspired swirl. (thedirt.news (thedirt.news)) Planted varieties will include ranunculus, foxgloves, orlaya, peonies and geums, with designated wildflower corners and framed beds of single varieties. (thedirt.news (thedirt.news)) The team will use Sustain compost for planting and has said the plants and growing media will be returned to Sustain after the show to become a centrepiece within Sustain’s compost heaps. (ca.style.yahoo.com (ca.style.yahoo.com)) Georgie Newbery, external chair of Flowers from the Farm, framed the project as an opportunity to demonstrate the economic and ecological value of British‑grown cut flowers and to promote flower farming as a viable small‑scale enterprise. (thedirt.news (thedirt.news)) Raymond Evison’s new clematis introductions carry PBR codes EviGsy157–159 and are named Clematis Ithemba (EviGsy157), Clematis Eliza (EviGsy158) and Clematis Queen’s Nurse (EviGsy159); the launches are tied to charities including the Red Cross Children’s Hospital Trust and the National Garden Scheme/Queen’s Institute of Community Nurses and are being entered into plant competitions and offered by mail order.
