Victorinox and JBS USA Announce Strategic Partnership

Victorinox, the maker of the Swiss Army Knife, has formed a strategic partnership with JBS USA, a leading global food company. The two industry leaders will unite to advance operational performance and yield optimization, though specific details of the collaboration were not disclosed.

This collaboration will establish a direct purchasing relationship, streamlining the supply chain for JBS USA, a company that provides over 280 million daily meals. Victorinox will now directly supply its professional cutlery to JBS USA's numerous facilities, a move aimed at enhancing plant-level support and inventory management. The partnership's core focus is on "yield optimization," a critical factor in the low-margin meat processing industry. This involves maximizing the amount of sellable product from raw materials while minimizing waste during every stage, from initial cuts to packaging. For JBS USA, which operates 73 production facilities and has the capacity to process 28,000 cattle and 92,000 hogs daily in the U.S. alone, even marginal improvements in yield can lead to significant financial gains. The collaboration aims to develop new, tailored knives and tools to improve the precision and efficiency of these operations. While renowned for its Swiss Army Knife, Victorinox's professional knives are a major part of its business, and this division is crucial to its sales. This partnership provides a unique opportunity to innovate products specifically for large-scale, modern food processing needs. The agreement leverages Victorinox's 90,000-square-foot distribution center in Connecticut to ensure a consistent supply of tools to JBS USA's network. This direct line of communication and supply is designed to be highly responsive to the specific needs of individual meat processing plants.
