RAYE Drops 'Nightingale Lane' Ballad
GRAMMY-nominated artist RAYE released 'Nightingale Lane,' an emotionally charged ballad marking a significant addition to her upcoming sophomore album 'THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE.' The single showcases her range as both songwriter and performer with introspective lyrics and modern production.
The forthcoming album, 'THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE,' is slated for release on March 27, 2026, and will feature 17 tracks. The album is structured around the four seasons, taking the listener on a journey from darkness to light. RAYE has described the project as a form of "medicine" for herself that she wants to share, intended to be a "hug, bed or soft place" for those who need it. The album's lead single, "Where Is My Husband!," has already achieved significant success, becoming RAYE's second UK number-one single. The track was co-produced with her frequent collaborator Mike Sabath. This follows the massive success of her debut independent album, 'My 21st Century Blues,' which featured the chart-topping single "Escapism." This new music arrives on the heels of a record-breaking year for the singer-songwriter. In 2024, RAYE made history at the BRIT Awards by winning six awards in a single night, the most ever for any artist. Her accolades included British Album of the Year, Song of the Year for "Escapism," and British Artist of the Year. Her independent success comes after a public split with her former label, Polydor Records, which had allegedly refused to release her debut album. Following her departure, she released 'My 21st Century Blues' through the independent company Human Re Sources to critical and commercial acclaim. The album was also shortlisted for a Mercury Prize in 2023. RAYE is currently on her "This Tour May Contain New Music" world tour, which includes sold-out arena dates across Europe and North America. Later in 2026, she is also scheduled to join Bruno Mars as a special guest on his stadium tour, The Romantic Tour. The ballad "Nightingale Lane" was debuted with a performance at the 2026 BRIT Awards, where RAYE was nominated for Song of the Year and Pop Act. The performance featured a full orchestra and backup singers, showcasing the song's emotive power and her vocal range. Her work has earned her nominations at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical. She was also included in the BBC's 100 Women list in December 2024. In addition to her solo work, RAYE has an established career as a songwriter for other prominent artists, including Beyoncé and Charli XCX. She has also released a live album titled 'My 21st Century Symphony,' which was recorded at the Royal Albert Hall with the Heritage Orchestra and the Flames Collective gospel choir.
