Fremont will turn its Downtown Event Center into a free public makerspace on Sunday, April 26, as part of the city’s monthlong arts program. (tricityvoice.com) The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Downtown Event Center and Plaza, 3500 Capitol Ave., according to the City of Fremont calendar. (fremont.gov) Fremont Creates said the April 26 program will pair the makerspace with an Artists’ Pop-Up Market featuring more than 20 local artists selling work directly to the public. (tricityvoice.com) Organizers also listed two hands-on workshops for adults age 15 and older, live jazz during the market, and an outdoor performance by Wadaiko Newark taiko drummers. (tricityvoice.com) A makerspace is a drop-in area for building and experimenting, and Fremont Creates has used the format in recent finales to give families and children art activities they can try on site. (tricityvoice.com; tricityvoice.com) The April 26 event is scheduled as the wrap-up for Fremont’s April Arts, Culture and Creativity Month, a citywide campaign that groups performances, workshops and visual arts events under the Fremont Creates banner. (fremontcreates.com; tricityvoice.com) Fremont Creates’ own event page calls the pop-up market new for 2026, while the makerspace is returning from prior years. (fremontcreates.com; tricityvoice.com) The venue sits near downtown dining, shopping and Bay Area Rapid Transit, and the city describes the site as an indoor event center with an outdoor plaza. (fremont.gov) For Fremont families, artists and weekend visitors, the setup is simple: show up at 3500 Capitol Ave. between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, and the admission is free.
