Founded in 1890 by Angus Stafford Gordon, Gordon's Wine Bar is thought to be London's oldest wine bar. The atmospheric cellar bar is located in a building with a rich history, having been home to Samuel Pepys in the 1680s and Rudyard Kipling in 1889. The wine bar is known for its unique, candlelit cellar, creating a cozy and romantic atmosphere. Its walls are adorned with historical newspaper cuttings and memorabilia, adding to its Dickensian charm. Gordon's offers a wide selection of wines from around the world, along with a menu of cheeses, charcuterie, and other snacks. Many of the wines are served directly from casks behind the bar. The bar is still a family affair, currently run by Wendy Gordon, the wife of the late Luis Gordon, and their son Simon. Despite its popularity, Gordon's Wine Bar maintains its unique character and charm, offering a step back in time for its patrons.
