Lucknow’s old-city food culture is getting a new address: a food street called Lucknow Chowk is set to open inside Happiness Park in Chowk this April. (knocksense.com) Knocksense reported on March 5 that the project would launch in April, and a newer update circulated on April 21 said the site was about 50% complete as opening preparations picked up this week. (knocksense.com, dailyhunt.in) The first confirmed brands include Nainital Momos, Kimchi Tower, Mantu’s Ice Creams, Karaari Angeethi, The Desi Crave, One By Two and Letz Chai, according to the April update carrying Knocksense reporting. (dailyhunt.in) The site is inside Happiness Park, the renovated Gautam Buddha Park in Chowk, which the Lucknow Development Authority describes as a “Waste to Wonder” public space built around recycled-material installations and family attractions. (ldalucknow.in) The pitch is not a replica of the old Chowk bazaar. It is a cleaner, managed food precinct that keeps Chowk’s food identity but adds seating, easier entry and parking, and a more family-oriented setup. (knocksense.com) That fits a wider Lucknow Development Authority push to pair food and leisure in redesigned public spaces. Knocksense separately reported last year that Chatori Gali in Gomti Nagar was being rebuilt as “Food Valley” with 42 food and beverage brands, tensile sheds and a children’s play zone. (knocksense.com) Happiness Park itself was part of a longer redevelopment plan in Chowk. The Times of India reported in February 2024 that the Lucknow Development Authority was converting part of Buddha Park into a happiness-themed “waste to wonder” park and revamping the larger site. (timesofindia.indiatimes.com) The opening date for Lucknow Chowk has not been publicly pinned down in the material reviewed, but the reporting points to a launch window in the last full week of April. For now, the clearest signal is that the brands are being locked in and the park-side food street is being readied for visitors. (knocksense.com, dailyhunt.in)
