Miraval Resorts & Spas opened Miraval The Red Sea on May 15 on Shura Island in Saudi Arabia, according to Hyatt and Red Sea Global. The adults-only, all-inclusive retreat is the Miraval brand’s first resort outside the United States and adds 180 rooms, suites and villas to Red Sea Global’s tourism project on the kingdom’s west coast. Red Sea Global said the opening comes as it expands the hotel lineup at The Red Sea destination ahead of the Eid Al-Adha travel period. John Pagano, the developer’s group chief executive, said occupancy at the destination reached 82% during the final 10 days of Ramadan and cited forward bookings for Eid as a sign of demand. (hyatt.com) Hyatt’s booking page says the property is accepting reservations for stays from May 15, 2026. The resort sits on the southern edge of Shura Island and is marketed as a wellness retreat built around mindfulness, spa treatments, movement classes and personalized itineraries. ### When did Miraval actually open, and what is new here? (redseaglobal.com) May 15 is the first stay date listed on Hyatt’s site, and Red Sea Global said on May 13 that the resort would open its doors on that date. The opening gives Miraval its first operating foothold outside the U.S. after years of development under Hyatt’s management agreement with Red Sea Global’s predecessor company. (hyatt.com) Hyatt announced the project in May 2022 as a 180-room luxury wellness resort on Shura Island. At the time, the company said the property would become Miraval’s fourth resort and its first outside the United States, joining existing Miraval locations in Arizona, Texas and Massachusetts. ### What exactly is on the property? Hyatt says Miraval The Red Sea is an adults-only, all-inclusive resort with meals, non-alcoholic beverages, airport transfers, daily wellness programming and resort credits built into each stay. (hyatt.com) The property includes beach and mangrove access, pools, fitness facilities and the Life in Balance Spa. (newsroom.hyatt.com) Red Sea Global said the spa covers 3,000 square meters and has 39 treatment rooms, making it the largest spa on Shura Island. The developer also listed a Serenity Center, a Body Mindfulness Center, a challenge course and a culinary kitchen among the resort’s main facilities. A June 2025 Hyatt release on the adjacent branded residences said Miraval The Red Sea Residences would include 20 beach villas designed by Foster + Partners, with interiors by Rockwell Group. (hyatt.com) Hyatt said those residences would debut alongside the resort as part of the brand’s entry into the Middle East. ### Where does it fit inside the wider Red Sea project? (redseaglobal.com) Shura Island is the centerpiece of The Red Sea destination and is planned to hold 11 luxury resorts, 305 residences and Saudi Arabia’s first island golf course, according to Red Sea Global. The developer says the island is designed under Foster + Partners’ “Coral Bloom” concept and is intended to run on renewable energy. (newsroom.hyatt.com) Red Sea Global said the first three Shura Island resorts to open were SLS The Red Sea, InterContinental The Red Sea and The Red Sea EDITION. By May 13, the company said The Red Sea destination had 11 hotels open in total, with six more due to open on Shura in the coming months. (redseaglobal.com) ### How do guests get there? Red Sea Global says Red Sea International Airport is the main gateway to the destination and opened for domestic flights in 2023, expanded to international services in 2024 and added Qatar Airways service in October 2025. The airport was designed by Foster + Partners and is powered by renewable energy, according to the developer. (redseaglobal.com) Hyatt’s transportation page says guests flying into Red Sea International Airport are provided round-trip ground transfers to Miraval The Red Sea, with electric vehicles used to reach Shura Island. Red Sea Global said the transfer from the airport to the resort takes about 25 to 30 minutes. ### What comes next on Shura Island? (redseaglobal.com) Red Sea Global said Four Seasons Resort and Residences Red Sea at Shura Island is accepting reservations from May 20. The company also said six more hotels are due to open on Shura in the coming months as the island builds toward its planned 11-resort lineup. (redseaglobal.com) (hyatt.com)
