Lincoln Nonprofit to Open Community Art Store

A Lincoln nonprofit is launching a new storefront for art supplies. The goal is to increase community access to affordable materials and creative space, with the organization currently collecting donations to fund the opening.

The new nonprofit is named the "Stuff Creative Reuse Store." It officially gained its 501(c)(3) status in December 2024 and is slated to open a physical storefront in the summer of 2025. The store will be located at 733 Hill Street, Suite B in Lincoln, Nebraska. Since its founding, the organization has already diverted over 1,400 pounds of creative supplies like fabric, yarn, and art tools from local landfills. This model, known as a creative reuse center, serves a dual purpose: it prevents usable materials from ending up in the waste stream and provides affordable supplies to artists, teachers, and community members. Similar centers in other cities have successfully diverted tons of materials from landfills annually while creating green-collar jobs. The vision for the Lincoln location extends beyond being just a retail space. Plans include incorporating workspaces for collaboration and hosting community art events, positioning the store as a hub for creativity and sustainability.
