MoMA PS1 has opened *Greater New York 2026*, a survey of 53 artists and collectives from across New York City’s art scene. (press.moma.org) The exhibition opened on April 16 in Long Island City and runs through August 17, 2026. MoMA PS1 said it fills the entire building with more than 150 works, including site-specific installations, new commissions, performances and recent pieces that had not been shown before. (press.moma.org) MoMA PS1 called this the sixth edition of *Greater New York*, its recurring survey of artists living and working in the New York City area. The museum said eight artists will premiere performances across three dates in May and June. (press.moma.org) The show arrives during MoMA PS1’s 50th anniversary year. The museum said the 2026 edition is the first *Greater New York* organized by its full curatorial team rather than a smaller group of curators. (press.moma.org) In London, V&A East Museum opened on April 18, 2026, at East Bank in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The Victoria and Albert Museum said admission is free, though some exhibitions and events carry separate charges. (vam.ac.uk) V&A East said the museum was created with young people and rooted in east London’s heritage, with galleries focused on “making” and contemporary culture. Its launch program includes *The Music is Black: A British Story* and a schedule of talks and events in April and summer 2026. (vam.ac.uk 1) (vam.ac.uk 2) The museum’s wider East Bank project also includes V&A East Storehouse, which the V&A describes as a second free public site built around access to the collection. The institution says both venues are meant to open up museum holdings and public programming beyond a single flagship building in central London. (vam.ac.uk) Separate from the museum shows, artist open-call listings are also circulating for summer deadlines and residencies. Artist Communities Alliance’s 2026 open-call directory, for example, lists programs including Art Omi: Artists, with a residency scheduled for June 18 to July 13, 2026. (artistcommunities.org) Another large listing hub, the New York Foundation for the Arts Opportunities Board, showed dozens of active calls on April 20, 2026, including residencies, grants and exhibition entries in New York and beyond. The volume of listings points to a parallel track in the art world: museum surveys on one side, and application-based access points for emerging artists on the other. (nyfa.org) Taken together, the spring 2026 calendar pairs institutional showcases with practical entry points. One offers wall space in major museums; the other offers deadlines, applications and a way in. (press.moma.org) (vam.ac.uk) (nyfa.org)
