Spurs' Plumlee Cleared for Debut

Veteran center Mason Plumlee is cleared to debut for the San Antonio Spurs after recovering from groin surgery.

Plumlee, who is 36 years old, was signed by the Spurs after being waived by the Charlotte Hornets. He initially signed a 10-day contract, which then transitioned into a deal for the remainder of the season. Spurs assistant coach Mitch Johnson highlighted Plumlee's experience and the unique skills he brings to the team. Johnson also mentioned his long-standing acquaintance with Plumlee, having known him since Plumlee's high school recruitment. Plumlee proactively contacted the Spurs after his release, expressing his desire to join the team. He conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity, especially considering he's coming off an injury. The Spurs are currently 48-17, holding the second-best record in the league and the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference. The team has been performing well since the start of February, increasing their confidence as title contenders.
