The staging is Michael Mayer’s revival of the company’s 2018 production, a revival that the Met previously mounted again in the 2022–23 season. (opera-online.com) The title role of Violetta is being shared by Lisette Oropesa, Rosa Feola, Ermonela Jaho and Amanda Woodbury across the run. (metopera.org) Alfredo Germont is covered by Piotr Buszewski, Arturo Chacón-Cruz, Liparit Avetisyan and Kang Wang, while Giorgio Germont is sung by Luca Salsi, Anthony Clark Evans, Amartuvshin Enkhbat and Lucas Meachem. (metopera.org) Antonello Manacorda led the production’s opening performances, with Marco Armiliato and Michele Spotti slated on later dates, and the creative team includes set designer Christine Jones, costume designer Susan Hilferty and lighting designer Kevin Adams. (metopera.org) The March 28 matinee release being carried on partner stations features Lisette Oropesa as Violetta, Piotr Buszewski as Alfredo and Antonello Manacorda on the podium for that performance. (metopera.org) Early critical response singled out Lisette Oropesa’s reprise of Violetta as affecting and called Piotr Buszewski’s Alfredo an impressive Met house debut.
