Pokémon GO begins its Steeled Resolve event on Tuesday, April 28, at 10 a.m. local time, and Orthworm makes its in-game debut with a shiny release on day one. (pokemongo.com) Niantic says the event runs through Monday, May 4, at 8 p.m. local time. Orthworm is the featured debut, and players can also find it in three-star raids during the event window. (pokemongo.com) The other headline bonus is Meltan. Players who open a Mystery Box during the event can encounter Shiny Meltan, and the cooldown before opening another Mystery Box is reduced. (pokemongo.com) Mystery Boxes are earned by sending a Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME or to Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Let’s Go, Eevee! on Nintendo Switch. That turns the event into a second route for players who already have the transfer setup ready. (pokemongo.com) Wild spawns during the event include Magnemite, Aron and Ferroseed, with Pawniard listed as a rarer encounter. Event Field Research can also award Magnemite, Pineco, Nosepass, Bronzor, Drilbur, Ferroseed, Beldum and Shieldon. (pokemongo.com) The raid pool is narrow and steel-heavy: Honedge, Shieldon and Beldum in one-star raids, plus Orthworm in three-star raids. Several of those encounters can also be shiny if players get lucky. (pokemongo.com) Steeled Resolve also carries a progression system called GO Pass: Steeled Resolve – Taken Over. Niantic says every player gets the free pass on April 28, while paid upgrades cost $4.99 for GO Pass Deluxe or $6.99 for Deluxe plus six ranks. (pokemongo.com) From May 2 at 12 a.m. through May 4 at 7:59 p.m. local time, Niantic says there will be no daily cap on GO Points earned for that pass. Rewards must be claimed by Wednesday, May 6, at 7:59 p.m. local time. (pokemongo.com) The event opens one day before the calendar turns to May, but its main hook is simple: a new Paldea species arrives, and Niantic is pairing it with another limited run at Shiny Meltan.
