Race Across The World returns

The adventure-racing series Race Across The World is back for season six on April 2 — five teams will cover roughly 12,000 km from Europe to Mongolia without flights, phones or bank cards, and a £20,000 prize is on the line. Producers are billing it as the toughest route yet, a big win for endurance-travel fans who watch logistics and survival play out on-screen (wanderlustmagazine.com) (radiotimes.com).

The BBC will broadcast the new run on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, and a companion podcast titled Race Across the World: The Detour — hosted by Scott Mills and series 4 winner Alfie Watts — will be released weekly on BBC Sounds and iPlayer. (radiotimes.com) Production is handled by Studio Lambert, with Tim Harcourt, Louise Bartmann, Katrina Hession and Rob Fisher credited as executive producers, and the series was commissioned by Catherine Catton with Jasmyn McGuile listed as the BBC commissioning editor. (cineramafilm.com) Producers map a detailed eastward route that threads through Italy, Greece, Türkiye, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan before finishing on the shores of Lake Khövsgöl in northern Mongolia. (wanderlustmagazine.com) Casting for previous editions drew enormous interest — production staff have said around 100,000 people applied for past series during open calls discussed in a Studio Lambert masterclass. (uk.news.yahoo.com) The programme is a BAFTA-winning Studio Lambert format and past seasons (1–5) remain available to stream on BBC iPlayer for viewers who want to catch up. (studiolambert.com) A teaser trailer and promotional push describe this as the “toughest journey yet,” and the BBC has positioned the series as a widescreen Europe-to-Asia adventure with supporting digital content tied to each episode.
