Launched at the Yoga Mahotsav event in New Delhi on March 20, 2026, the module was unveiled by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav. (uniindia.com) The protocol was developed by the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) and the ministry says it is intended for passengers on long-haul and frequent-flyer routes to be performed while seated without special equipment. (jagranjosh.com) Official descriptions list light joint-mobilisation (shoulder rotations, ankle circles), seated spinal twists, gentle seated asanas, centring/meditative breathing and specific pranayama such as Anulom Vilom and Bhramari. (jagranjosh.com) The ministry framed the protocol as a response to the health risks of prolonged immobility on flights — officials explicitly cited poor circulation and an elevated risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) among those risks. (uniindia.com) The launch formed part of Yoga Mahotsav–2026 and the government’s 100‑day countdown to the 12th International Day of Yoga, and was presented alongside other targeted protocols for elderly people and non‑communicable diseases. (outlookindia.com) The Ayush Ministry published the module via its own channels, including a Ministry of Ayush video release on its YouTube account, and the protocol is being offered in pictorial and video-supported formats intended for dissemination to airlines, airports and social media.
