Chicago Restaurant Faces Chef Abuse Lawsuit
Avondale restaurant Warlord is facing potential closure after co-owners sued former chef Trevor Fleming, alleging abusive behavior and unauthorized sharing of explicit images. The lawsuit claims Fleming's actions led to $1.4 million in lost revenue and severely damaged the restaurant's reputation and financial stability.
The lawsuit against Warlord's former chef, Trevor Fleming, details allegations of abusive behavior that reportedly created a toxic work environment. These alleged actions included public humiliation, shouting, threats, and instances of sharing intimate images of women without consent. Prior to the lawsuit, Fleming faced scrutiny from the CHAAD Project, an organization focused on ending labor abuses in the hospitality industry. Reports from workers in 2024 detailed alleged abuses within Warlord, prompting CHAAD to issue a public service announcement warning of potential harm to employees. In January 2026, Fleming was charged with non-consensual dissemination of a sexual image, leading to a court order of protection. Co-owners Emily Kraszyk and John Lupton called the allegations "reprehensible" and stated that such behavior has no place at Warlord. They pledged to regain the community's trust and are coordinating with legal counsel.
