Westbrook Makes NBA History Again

Russell Westbrook recorded his NBA-record 208th career triple-double with 23 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds as Sacramento beat Chicago 126-110. Malik Monk added explosive plays including a key first-half dunk. The Kings' balanced attack and Westbrook's veteran leadership controlled the game throughout.

With his 208th career triple-double, Russell Westbrook became the oldest player in NBA history to record at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists without a single turnover. This historic performance also marked his fourth triple-double of the season. The win was a rare bright spot for the Kings, marking only their third victory in the last 23 games and bringing their season record to 15-50. Westbrook's relentless accumulation of triple-doubles places him in a league of his own, far ahead of the next closest players. Denver's Nikola Jokic is second on the all-time list with 187, followed by the legendary Oscar Robertson at 181. Robertson's record stood for 47 years before Westbrook surpassed it in May 2021. The 12 assists in this game brought Westbrook to the brink of another milestone, leaving him just one assist shy of passing Mark Jackson for sixth on the NBA's all-time career assists list. This achievement highlights his evolution as a veteran playmaker. While Westbrook continues to make history, the Kings' season has been focused on developing a younger roster. Malik Monk's performance in the victory over the Bulls was a prime example of this, as he led all scorers with 30 points, shooting an efficient 11-for-24 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line, while also dishing out five assists with zero turnovers. The Chicago Bulls, who fell to 26-38 with the loss, also featured a player with a triple-double in the game. Josh Giddey recorded 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists for the visiting team. However, the Kings dominated in the paint, outscoring the Bulls 68-36.
