New Nightlife Venue Opens in Groningen
A new nightlife establishment named Ntourage has opened at Poeleplein in Groningen. The venue, from entrepreneur Marcel Levee, combines dining, drinks, and music with a DJ. The opening adds a new option to the city's entertainment and hospitality scene.
- The venue is located at Poelestraat 29, within Poeleplein, one of Groningen's most well-known hospitality squares that attracts a mix of students, locals, and tourists. Entrepreneur Marcel Levee notes a shift in the area, with new concepts creating more diversity beyond its reputation as a student street. - Ntourage is owned by Marcel Levee, a prominent hospitality entrepreneur in Groningen for nearly 25 years. His portfolio of businesses in the city includes Shooters, Feestcafé Klein, Oblomov, Gusto Wine & Bar, and Pinchazz. - The business model targets a slightly older demographic than the typical late-night student crowd, with a concept that transitions from dinner to a bar with a DJ around 10:00-11:00 PM, but without a dedicated dance floor. The venue is open from Thursday to Saturday, reflecting this focus. - The interior design was a collaboration with Too Many Agencies, a firm known for award-winning hospitality concepts. The layout was intentionally designed to create dynamism by having guests walk past the open kitchen and DJ to reach the bar. - The development faced construction challenges, including the original interior builder dropping out at the last minute, which caused a four-week delay in its opening. However, staffing was reportedly not an issue, as Levee could draw from employees at his other establishments. - The concept aims to position itself in a higher segment by offering a wine list with around eighty varieties, champagne by the glass, and high-end food items like caviar. - Levee is a board member of the Groningen department of Koninklijke Horeca Nederland (Royal Dutch Hospitality Association), where he aims to connect the administrative and practical sides of the city's hospitality sector.
