Fortnite Teases Chapter 7 Event

Fortnite teased a potential cinematic event at 3:30pm ET during Power Hour, possibly involving Dark Voyager's cradle rift. The tease is building hype for Chapter 7 Season 2. Meanwhile, "Grand Heist City" launches March 14—a GTA-inspired sandbox map from Typical Gamer's JOGO Studios.

Fortnite's chapter-ending live events are massive, server-wide spectacles that advance the game's story. The all-time attendance record was set by the Galactus event in 2020, which drew over 15.3 million concurrent players in-game. More recently, the "Remix: The Finale" concert in late 2024 attracted 14.3 million simultaneous players. The tease occurred during a "Power Hour," a special 60-minute window with modified rules and supercharged gameplay. Epic Games often uses these high-octane weekend periods, which feature things like unique weapon loadouts, to drive player engagement ahead of major updates. The Dark Voyager character is a key figure in the game's lore, linked to a mysterious faction known as The Last Reality. Throughout Chapter 7, the Voyager's "cradle rift" ship has been a central plot device, previously taking over a section of the map before recently vanishing into a golden rift, leading to speculation about its return. "Grand Heist City" emerges from Fortnite's burgeoning creator economy, which has become a significant part of the game's ecosystem. In 2024, players spent 5.23 billion hours on creator-made islands, and Epic Games paid out $352 million to those creators. The map's creator, Andre "Typical Gamer" Rebelo, is a prominent YouTuber who founded JOGO Studios to develop high-quality Fortnite experiences. His studio is behind several popular maps, including "Super Red vs Blue," and his official Fortnite community has over 2.7 million followers. Described as JOGO's most ambitious project, "Grand Heist City" will let players explore an open map, undertake missions, and engage in heists with multiplayer support. The project, partially funded by an Epic Mega Grant, will also be the studio's first Fortnite creation to feature microtransactions.
