New L.A.-Style Restaurant Coming to Fort Lauderdale
A new restaurant with Los Angeles influences is set to open at the Auberge Beach Residences in Fort Lauderdale. The establishment is promising a swanky dining experience and is currently hiring for all positions.
The incoming restaurant is Del Mar, a concept from the Ohio-based hospitality group Cameron Mitchell Restaurants (CMR). This marks the fourth Del Mar location, joining others in Naples, Florida, and Columbus, Ohio, as the group's first waterfront property. The restaurant will occupy a sprawling 17,000-square-foot space, a significant increase over the former Dune by Laurent Tourondel. Leading the Fort Lauderdale location are General Manager Travis Cusack and Executive Chef Mitch Brumels, both long-time veterans of Cameron Mitchell Restaurants. Cusack has previously managed CMR concepts in Denver and Kansas City, while Brumels, a Culinary Institute of America graduate, has led kitchens at the group's high-end Ocean Prime brand in several major cities. The menu focuses on coastal Mediterranean flavors from Greece, Spain, Morocco, Italy, and France, emphasizing fresh seafood, produce, olive oil, and spices. Dishes are made from scratch and the menu rotates seasonally, featuring shareable items like dips, flatbreads, and a signature open-fire roasted shellfish tower. Cameron Mitchell Restaurants operates with a centralized purchasing team that builds long-term relationships with key suppliers. For its Florida locations, the company partners with major distributors including Premier ProduceOne, Chefs Warehouse, and Sysco, who handle the logistics of sourcing ingredients. These supply chain partners have a significant and growing presence in Florida. Premier ProduceOne, recently acquired by What Chefs Want, has a robust network of over 3,100 growers and suppliers across Central and South Florida. This network provides direct access to a wide range of local produce and dairy. For its seafood, CMR leverages the capabilities of The Chefs' Warehouse, which operates a 150,000-square-foot facility in Florida. The distributor partners with local Florida fisheries to source fresh, seasonal seafood and has expanded its capabilities by acquiring Harris Seafood, an Orlando-based seafood specialist. Additionally, Sysco, another key partner, is launching a "Home Grown by Sysco" program in South Florida in February 2026. This initiative is designed to highlight approximately 10,000 locally sourced products, making it easier for their restaurant clients to procure items from nearby farms and artisans, and supporting regional supply chains.
