The parent company, Thompson Hospitality, is the largest minority-owned food and facilities management company in the nation. Founded in 1992 by Warren Thompson, the Reston, Virginia-based company now employs over 6,000 people across more than 70 restaurant locations under 14 different brands. The Milk & Honey brand, known for its Southern-inspired brunch cuisine available seven days a week, was acquired by Thompson Hospitality in 2020. The brand was originally founded by Chef Sammy Davis, who started the restaurant to create a brunch spot for industry workers. Davis remains involved with the company as a chef consultant. This new Fort Washington location is part of a broader expansion for Thompson Hospitality's newly formed "Thompson Restaurants" division. The company is focused on strengthening its presence in the Washington, D.C. metro area, South Florida, and Columbus, Ohio, with plans to enter new markets like Virginia Beach. To enhance customer experience across its diverse portfolio, Thompson Restaurants is launching a unified loyalty program called "Thompson Table Rewards" in 2025. This program will allow patrons to earn and redeem points across all of their different restaurant brands, including Milk & Honey, Matchbox, and Wiseguy Pizza. The new restaurant is entering a community with strong economic indicators. The median household income in Fort Washington is $145,942, and the average household income is $169,384 as of 2023. The local economy employs nearly 13,400 residents, with public administration and professional, scientific, and technical services being the largest employment sectors. Thompson Restaurants offers a "path to partnership" for its employees, providing opportunities for career growth from team member to operating partner. The company provides a comprehensive benefits package, including tuition reimbursement and management training programs, creating career opportunities in the hospitality sector for the Fort Washington area.
