Coachella starts April 10

Coachella weekend one kicks off April 10 in Indio with a pop-forward headline slate — Sabrina Carpenter on Friday, Justin Bieber Saturday (his first big comeback set in four years), and Karol G on Sunday — and organizers added Jack White as a surprise last-minute performer. (ftw.usatoday.com) (rttnews.com) If you’re not in the desert, every one of the festival’s seven stages will be livestreamed and the Coachella Stage, Outdoor Theatre and Sahara tents will stream in 4K — so watching from home is unusually robust this year. Coachella opens Friday, April 10, in Indio, California, but the biggest twist landed before the gates did: Jack White was added days before weekend one and is scheduled for a 45-minute Mojave set at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11. (coachella.com) (consequence.net) The top line this year is unusually pop-heavy for a festival that built its reputation on indie rock and dance music: Sabrina Carpenter headlines Friday, Justin Bieber headlines Saturday, and Karol G headlines Sunday. Coachella’s official site lists weekend one for April 10 to April 12 and weekend two for April 17 to April 19. (coachella.com 1) (coachella.com 2) Bieber is the set people are watching closest because Saturday, April 11, is being billed as his first major comeback festival headline show in four years. The Desert Sun reports he takes the main Coachella Stage on Saturday night at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. (desertsun.com) (yahoo.com) Carpenter and Karol G are also first-time Coachella headliners, which gives the weekend a very different center of gravity than the Beyoncé, Radiohead, or Swedish House Mafia years. The 2026 poster puts three current chart-driving pop stars at the top instead of leaning on legacy rock reunions. (coachella.com) (ftw.usatoday.com) The other shift is that Coachella is easier to watch from a couch than it used to be from a campsite. Coachella’s official YouTube page says all seven stages will stream live on April 10 to 12 and April 17 to 19. (coachella.com) YouTube’s setup is broader than a single highlight feed: Yahoo reports the streams start at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday, April 10, and the Coachella channel will offer multiview so television viewers can watch up to four stages at once. Yahoo also says past performances will be available on demand. (yahoo.com) Three of those streams are getting the premium treatment. Consequence reports the main Coachella Stage, the Outdoor Theatre, and the Sahara tent will be available in four-kilobyte resolution, which is the sharper format usually reserved for big sports broadcasts and prestige concert films. (consequence.net) That changes the festival’s usual pecking order a little. A surprise afternoon set in Mojave can still become a live talking point, but the stages with four-kilobyte resolution and the built-in YouTube audience have a better shot at becoming the clips people replay all weekend. (coachella.com) (consequence.net) So the opening weekend is really two events running at once: 125,000-plus people moving around the Empire Polo Club over three days, and a parallel home audience choosing between seven live feeds on YouTube. Coachella still starts in the desert, but in 2026 it is being programmed almost like a television event. (britannica.com) (coachella.com)
