Sam Fender Holds UK Chart Top

Sam Fender and Olivia Dean's collaboration "Rein Me In" holds the No. 1 spot on the U.K. singles chart for a second consecutive week. The heartfelt pop track continues to resonate strongly with listeners, underscoring the duo's chemistry and the sustained popularity of well-crafted emotional songwriting.

The collaboration's journey to the top was a record-breaking slow burn. "Rein Me In" spent 35 consecutive weeks in the Top 40 before hitting No. 1, smashing the previous record of 19 weeks held by Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud." The track first entered the Top 40 in June 2025. This marks Sam Fender's first-ever Official Number 1 single. His previous best was with "Seventeen Going Under," which peaked at Number 3 in 2021. Fender is no stranger to the top of the album charts, however, with three of his albums—"Hypersonic Missiles," "Seventeen Going Under," and "People Watching"—all reaching the coveted No. 1 spot. For Olivia Dean, this is her second time topping the singles chart, following her 2025 hit "Man I Need." In October 2025, Dean achieved a rare "Official Chart Double," with her album "The Art of Loving" and the single "Man I Need" simultaneously holding the top spots. The last British female solo artist to achieve this was Adele in 2021. The duet version of "Rein Me In" was born from a live performance. Dean was the opening act for Fender's show at London Stadium where they first performed the track together. After an overwhelmingly positive fan reaction to further joint performances, the official duet was released on June 20, 2025. In its second week at No. 1, "Rein Me In" sold 46,272 units, a figure composed of 851 downloads, 45,412 streaming equivalent sales, and just nine 7-inch vinyl sales. The song's cumulative consumption has now reached 987,042 units. The success of "Rein Me In" comes from Fender's third studio album, "People Watching." Released in February 2025, the album debuted at number one with over 107,000 units sold in its first week, making it the fastest-selling vinyl album by a British artist in the 21st century. The album also won the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2025.
