Ankole Launch Promotes Ugandan Tourism

Explore Ankole Launch in Uganda promotes 4-day agro-tourism and cultural sites like Inspire Africa Ntugamo and Omugabe Palace.

The "Explore Ankole" campaign, running from March 26-29, aims to showcase the region's diverse attractions, including cultural, agro, and industrial tourism. The campaign is part of a broader government strategy to boost domestic tourism following slowdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspire Africa Coffee Park in Ntungamo District is a key destination, offering tours of coffee production and processing. The park aims to increase Uganda's coffee revenue through value addition and coffee tourism. The Omugabe Palace in Mbarara, a historical site reflecting the Ankole Kingdom's heritage, will be officially opened as part of the campaign. The palace was once the residence of Ankole kings and is being restored to become a major tourist attraction. The Ankole City Marathon will also take place on March 28, with the opening of the Mugaba Palace Heritage Site and a concert scheduled for the same day. The marathon is now partnered with the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities.
