Kanye's Vultures 2 Gets Mixed Reviews
Kanye West's latest album "Vultures 2" with Ty Dolla $ign is getting early YouTube reviews within 48 hours of release. Critics highlight experimental soundscapes mixing industrial beats, gospel influences, and genre-blending collabs. Reviewers note standout tracks showing West-Ty Dolla synergy but call several tracks "misses" due to lack of focus.
*Vultures 2* is the second installment in a planned trilogy of albums from the duo. The album's release on August 3, 2024, was a surprise, following multiple missed release dates, including an initial target of March 8. The album debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 107,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. It was held from the top spot by Taylor Swift's *The Tortured Poets Department*. This marks one of the few times a Kanye West studio album has not peaked at number one. For comparison, the trilogy's first installment, *Vultures 1*, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 148,000 equivalent album units sold. All 16 songs from *Vultures 1* landed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Criticism of *Vultures 2* has centered on its perceived unfinished sound, with some listeners and critics pointing to poor mixing and the alleged use of artificial intelligence for some of West's vocals. Following its release, West has continuously updated the album's tracks. The project features a wide array of guest artists, including Don Toliver, Playboi Carti, Future, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, and Lil Durk. West's own children, North and Chicago West, are also credited with guest performances. The cover art for *Vultures 2* features an action figure of Ty Dolla $ign holding a photograph of his brother, Jabreal Muhammad (also known as Big TC). Muhammad is currently serving a life sentence for a murder he and his brother maintain he did not commit.
