House Fire on Tucson's Northside Hospitalizes One

A house fire on the north side of Tucson, Arizona, resulted in one person being sent to a local hospital on March 3. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by local authorities, and the extent of the individual's injuries has not been disclosed.

The fire on Tucson's north side, which resulted in one person being hospitalized, occurred near 1st Avenue and River Road. Multiple agencies, including the Northwest Fire District, Tucson Fire Department, and Golder Ranch Fire crews, responded to the blaze. The individual was transported to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. This incident was one of two house fires the Tucson Fire Department responded to on the same day. Earlier, a fire on the south side near Campbell and Drexel fully engulfed a carport and spread to a second house, displacing a total of seven people. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the south side fire. Investigations into the causes of both fires are ongoing. In Arizona, common causes for residential fires include cooking, cigarettes, candles, and overworked electrical cords. Nationally, cooking is the leading cause of house fires that result in injuries. The Tucson Fire Department stays consistently busy, handling over 8,400 calls in January of this year alone, the majority of which were for medical emergencies. Data from last year showed a significant number of fires in the area were linked to homeless activity, with 86 confirmed cases resulting in over $1.6 million in damages.
