Peloton Syncs Back to Garmin
Peloton workouts now sync directly back to Garmin Connect, closing the integration loop that began last fall. This means cycling, running, or strength sessions completed on Peloton will automatically appear in your Garmin fitness log, ensuring a unified view of workout history, recovery, and training load.
The initial one-way integration, allowing Garmin-recorded activities to sync to Peloton, officially rolled out to all users on October 1, 2025. This first step allowed outdoor runs or bike rides tracked on a Garmin device to count towards Peloton goals and challenges. This latest update, which enables two-way syncing, addresses a major request from users who were previously forced to record their Peloton workouts on a Garmin watch simultaneously to get the data into their Garmin Connect log. This workaround was cumbersome and could lead to data discrepancies. Now, Peloton activities directly influence Garmin's key training metrics, including Training Status, Training Load, and Recovery Time. Training Status assesses the effectiveness of your recent training, while Training Load quantifies the physiological strain of your workouts over the last seven days. Garmin's Recovery Time advises on the hours needed before your next hard effort, and with this integration, a tough Peloton session will now accurately adjust that recommendation. This provides a more holistic view of your readiness for your next workout, whether it's on a Peloton Bike or an outdoor run. For cycling workouts, data such as distance, speed, power, cadence, and heart rate syncs from Peloton to Garmin. However, some data is not yet mapped over; for instance, incline data from the Peloton Tread and Peloton-specific metrics like leaderboard rank or milestone achievements will not appear in Garmin Connect. This move is part of a broader trend in the connected fitness industry towards more open ecosystems and strategic partnerships. For Peloton, it aligns with a strategy to meet members wherever they are, expanding beyond its own hardware and app to integrate with other popular fitness platforms.
