Rodon Progressing in Recovery
Yankees reliever Carlos Rodon threw a 20-pitch live batting practice session [https://sportingnews.com/us/mlb/new-york-yankees/news/yankees-great-health-update-carlos-rodon-ahead-opening-day/e4921fa7fa5072d3883155cd]. When is he expected to be fully recovered?
Rodón's progress is encouraging, especially considering he couldn't lift his arm above his head before the October surgery to remove loose bodies and a bone spur. Manager Aaron Boone didn't rule out a late April return after Rodón threw a 20-pitch live batting practice session. The Yankees rotation is currently relying on Max Fried, Cam Schlittler, Will Warren, Luis Gil and Ryan Weathers in Rodón's absence. Gerrit Cole is also on the IL recovering from Tommy John surgery and is targeting a May or June return. Rodón is coming off a strong 2025 season where he posted a 3.09 ERA and a career-high 203 strikeouts. He admitted to dealing with elbow pain throughout the season, which made everyday tasks difficult.
