Mike Sommerfeld Shares Arnold Classic Workout

Mike Sommerfeld, the favorite for this week's Arnold Classic, has shared his intense push-day workout just days before the Columbus event. His routine demonstrates advanced training principles for chest, shoulders, and triceps — offering serious gym-goers inspiration from elite bodybuilding prep.

The German-born bodybuilder enters the 2026 Arnold Classic as the reigning champion, having secured his first victory in the Classic Physique division at the same Columbus, Ohio, event in 2025. This followed a significant second-place finish at the 2024 Mr. Olympia competition. The Arnold Classic, founded by Arnold Schwarzenegger, is one of the most prestigious titles in professional bodybuilding, second only to the Mr. Olympia. The 2026 event takes place from March 5-8, with the Classic Physique finals scheduled for the evening of Saturday, March 7. Sommerfeld, known as "Mike the Badass," will face a challenging lineup of 11 other competitors. Key rivals include Wesley Vissers, a previous Arnold Classic winner, and the highly discussed newcomer Sam Sulek, who is making his professional debut at the event. Originally competing in the 212 division after turning pro, Sommerfeld switched to Classic Physique for a better fit. He is known for his focus on the mind-muscle connection, often closing his eyes during sets to concentrate on the movement. The bodybuilder now lives and trains in Dubai and has recently worked with "Hypertrophy Coach" Joe Bennett to improve his shoulder development. Sommerfeld also manages a genetic liver condition called Porphyria variegata while maintaining his elite competitive level.
