Hornets Crush Celtics 118-89

Charlotte Hornets demolished the Boston Celtics 118-89 for their sixth straight victory, moving above .500 for the first time this season. The dominant performance included Brandon Miller delivering a massive rim-rocking dunk, and Charlotte is now 19-2 with their starting lineup over the last 20 games. The Hornets are tied for the best record in the league during this hot stretch.

The Hornets' wire-to-wire victory in Boston was their most impressive of the season, extending a winning streak where every victory has been by 15 or more points. This is the longest such streak since the 2017-18 Golden State Warriors and is tied for the second-longest in NBA history. Charlotte never trailed in the contest and led by as many as 29. The win pushed Charlotte to a 32-31 record, the first time the team has been above .500 since they were 2-1 in October. This marks a significant turnaround for a team that was 12 games under .500 as recently as late January. Rookie Kon Knueppel led the balanced scoring attack with 20 points, while Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball each contributed 18 points. Coby White added 17 points and six assists, and the starting five combined for 92 of the team's 118 points. The team as a whole committed only five turnovers. For the Celtics, the loss snapped a three-game winning streak. Playing their sixth game in nine days, Boston came out sluggish, missing their first eight shots and shooting just 38% from the field for the game. The Celtics committed 16 turnovers which led to 21 points for the Hornets. Derrick White led the Celtics with 29 points, and Jaylen Brown recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds in his return from an illness. The Hornets arrived in Boston at approximately 4:00 AM on game day, having played the previous night as well, making the dominant performance on the second night of a back-to-back even more notable. Charlotte will look to extend its historic streak when it hosts the Miami Heat next. Meanwhile, the Celtics will try to rebound as they host the Dallas Mavericks.
