Toronto Gets 'Functional Dining'

Toronto is about to welcome Kyma, a new "functional dining" restaurant focused on wellness and helping guests live their best lives. The concept merges nutrition, ambiance, and community, reflecting a growing trend toward mindful, health-driven eating experiences.

Kyma is the latest venture from restaurateur Hemant Bhagwani, a familiar name in Toronto's food scene known for establishments like Amaya, Bar Goa, and ORO Luxury Dining. For this new concept, Bhagwani collaborated with a clinical nutritionist to create a menu that bridges "culinary soul and rigorous health science." The restaurant officially opens on Friday, March 6, at 2865 Dundas St. W. To mark its grand opening, Kyma is offering a one-day promotion where every dish on the menu will be priced at $10 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The menu is centered on Mediterranean-inspired bowls designed to be high in protein, ranging from 40 to 55 grams per serving. These bowls feature ingredients like sprouted grains and fermented fibers to support gut health and are made without seed oils. Specific menu items include the Harissa Bowl, with 52 grams of protein from grilled chicken and black lentils, and The Olympian, which has 40 grams of protein from Ahi tuna, quinoa, and roasted chickpeas. Beyond the bowls, the restaurant will also offer a selection of beverages focused on "hydration meets high-performance," such as a cucumber-mint electrolyte drink and iced collagen tea.
