West Coast Community Bank Opens San Jose Branch

West Coast Community Bank, a financial institution with $2.9 billion in assets, is opening a new full-service branch in downtown San Jose. The bank signed a 10-year lease for a location at 10 Almaden Boulevard. The move marks an expansion of the bank's physical presence in the city.

This new San Jose branch marks a significant expansion for the Santa Cruz-headquartered West Coast Community Bank, which was founded in 2004. The bank recently underwent a name change, rebranding from Santa Cruz County Bank after its 2024 merger with 1st Capital Bancorp. This move is a key part of their strategy to increase their presence in the economically dynamic Silicon Valley. The bank's financial performance has been strong leading up to this expansion. For the year ending December 31, 2025, West Coast Community Bancorp reported a 70.5% increase in earnings, reaching $50.4 million. This growth was significantly driven by the merger with 1st Capital Bancorp and the generation of $134.0 million in new deposits by the end of 2025. The new branch at Ten Almaden, a premier Class A office tower, will be the bank's flagship location in Santa Clara County. The ground-floor space will not only offer retail banking but will also serve as a collaborative workspace for over 35 bankers specializing in areas like asset-based lending, commercial lending, and treasury management. This new location will replace the bank's Cupertino branch on Stevens Creek Boulevard, which is scheduled to close permanently on June 30. The move into 10 Almaden Boulevard places West Coast Community Bank among other professional service firms. While a fully current directory is not public, past tenants of the 17-story tower have included Citibank, Comcast, and Turner Construction Company. The building features amenities such as a fitness center, a conference center, and a tenant lounge. This expansion into downtown San Jose is a strategic effort to gain greater visibility and access to talent. The bank's Silicon Valley Regional President, Emily Ruvalcaba, who is also the immediate past chair of the San Jose Downtown Association, emphasized the goal of deepening their presence in one of the country's most vibrant economic centers. The City of San Jose is supporting this move with incentives like two years of free parking and a waiver of business taxes for new downtown office tenants.
