Paris Baguette Opens New Texas Location
The global bakery café chain Paris Baguette opened its newest location in Richardson, Texas, on February 27. The opening is part of the brand's rapid U.S. expansion, which includes over 4,000 units worldwide.
Despite its name, Paris Baguette is a South Korean brand that was founded in 1988. The company is a subsidiary of the SPC Group, a major South Korean food and confectionery conglomerate. The first Paris Baguette location opened in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. The company has ambitious growth plans, aiming to have 1,000 locations in the United States by 2030. This is part of a larger North American strategy that also includes 100 stores in Canada. As of early 2026, there are over 280 Paris Baguette cafes open in North America. The Richardson opening marks the 25th Paris Baguette in Texas. The brand is also investing heavily in the state with a planned $160 million, 260,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Burleson, which is expected to create 450 jobs. This facility will supply the growing number of cafes in the region. The new Richardson location is operated by franchisees Sweta Goyal, Puneet Mittal, Mamta Singhal, and Rajneesh Singhal. The two couples were longtime fans of the brand before signing a five-unit development agreement. This is their first Paris Baguette to open. Franchisees are a key part of Paris Baguette's expansion, with most of its growth coming from these partnerships. The initial investment to open a Paris Baguette franchise can range from approximately $727,000 to over $1.8 million. Franchisees need a minimum of $500,000 in liquid assets. The brand emphasizes a "neighborhood bakery café" concept, focusing on fresh, high-quality baked goods made in-house. This focus on dominating the bakery cafe space is intended to distinguish it from competitors that may only partially bake items on-site. The company has seen 19 straight quarters of positive same-store sales.
