NBA Playoff Race Intensifies

The NBA playoff picture is tightening as the Bucks and Hawks battle for a play-in spot in the East. In the West, the Warriors' playoff cushion over the Clippers is shrinking, especially with Steph Curry currently sidelined.

The Milwaukee Bucks' recent struggles coincide with the return of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who missed 15 games with a calf injury. Despite his return, the Bucks have lost three straight games by a combined 79 points, with Antetokounmpo admitting to feeling "a little bit rusty." The team is just 15-16 this season when he is on the court. Conversely, the Atlanta Hawks are surging, having won four straight games and five of their last six to tighten the play-in race. A key to their success has been ball movement, as the Hawks lead the entire NBA, averaging 30.4 assists per game. The two teams will face each other again on March 14 in a game with significant play-in implications. In the West, the Warriors' immediate future is clouded by Stephen Curry's injury, diagnosed as "runner's knee." He has already missed 10 games, during which the team has gone 4-6, and he will remain sidelined for at least five more games before being re-evaluated. The team's record is 8-13 this season without him. The Los Angeles Clippers are capitalizing on the Warriors' vulnerability. The Clippers are led by Kawhi Leonard, who has scored at least 20 points in 37 consecutive games. As of early March, the Warriors held just a 2.5-game lead over the Clippers for the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings.
