NNPC/SEPLAT Teachers Empowerment Programme for STEAM

NNPC/SEPLAT announced their 2026 Teachers Empowerment Programme for STEAM, promoting creative thinking and engagement. Teachers can apply for the programme.

The NNPC/SEPLAT Teachers Empowerment Programme (STEP) 2026 focuses on training secondary school teachers in Edo and Delta States, Nigeria, providing them with skills in digital literacy, leadership, and mentorship. The program is fully sponsored and also provides technology-enabled instructional tools. Teachers who previously graduated from the program are not eligible to apply again. The STEP program incorporates a STEAM learning model, emphasizing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics as equally important contributors to education. This approach aims to bridge the gap between traditional teaching methods and a well-rounded education that promotes creative thinking and student engagement. The application deadline is March 13, 2026, and selected applicants will undergo a qualifying test between March 16-27, 2026. Launched in 2020, STEP has trained 1,957 educators by 2026, integrating STEAM-focused pedagogy, digital literacy, leadership development, and structured mentorship. A graduation ceremony was held in Benin City for 623 teachers and education inspectors. During the ceremony, teachers participated in an innovation contest showcasing solutions they developed during the training, such as an Eco "Fueless" Generator and Learning Solutions.
