Kyler Murray's one-year deal with the Vikings includes a no-tag clause, allowing him to enter free agency unrestricted next offseason. He'll compete with J.J. McCarthy for the starting quarterback role, adding experience to the Vikings' QB room. Murray is set to earn the league minimum of roughly $1.3 million, while the Cardinals will cover the majority of his $36.8 million guaranteed salary. Murray's arrival could allow McCarthy to develop from the sidelines, similar to the paths of Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones. The Vikings have been clear about their intention to create competition at the quarterback position. Murray met with Vikings coaches and staff before signing the deal. In his seven seasons with the Cardinals, Murray completed 67.1% of his passes for 20,460 yards, 121 touchdowns, and 60 interceptions. He also rushed for 3,193 yards and 32 touchdowns. The Vikings, with roughly $8.9 million in cap space remaining, view Murray as their biggest signing of the free agency period.
