Rosa Walton Goes Solo
Rosa Walton from acclaimed indie duo Let's Eat Grandma shared the video for "Sorry Anyway" ahead of her debut solo album. This marks a significant step for Walton as she branches into her own unique indie-electronic sound, separate from her duo work.
Rosa Walton's debut solo album is titled 'Tell Me It's A Dream' and is set for release on June 5th via Transgressive Records. The album was co-produced by David Wrench, known for his work with artists like Frank Ocean and FKA twigs. The lead single, "Sorry Anyway," is described as a bright, hook-driven anthem centered on radical self-acceptance and fearless individuality. Walton says the song is about "not letting anyone hold you back" and "embracing who you are." The seeds for the album were first planted during lockdown sessions, with Walton later revisiting and evolving the songs. This solo venture follows the solo debut of her Let's Eat Grandma bandmate, Jenny Hollingworth, who released an album called 'Quicksand Heart' under the name Jenny On Holiday earlier this year. Walton has stated that the idea of a solo project wasn't about stepping away from the duo but grew from writing to process things and stay grounded. Hollingworth even appears on the track “Prettier Things” on Walton's upcoming album. Let's Eat Grandma, formed by childhood friends Walton and Hollingworth in 2013, released their debut album 'I, Gemini' in 2016. The Norwich duo gained critical acclaim for their experimental pop sound. Their 2018 album, 'I'm All Ears,' won Album of the Year at the Q Awards.
