New Music Drops Tonight
Tonight's New Music Friday is stacked with anticipated releases. Highlights include Denzel Curry & The Scythe's project *Strictly 4 The Scythe* (ft. Smino, Juicy J), Ty Dolla $ign's *Girl Music Vol. 1* (ft. Leon Thomas, Brandy), and Nettspend's *Early Life Crisis* (ft. NBA Youngboy). Also expected are new singles from 50 Cent and Juice WRLD & Marshmello, plus Yebba's album *Jean* and a new track from Gnarls Barkley.
The new Gnarls Barkley track marks the end of an 18-year hiatus for the duo of CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse. It's the lead single from their third and final album, *Atlanta*, a 13-track project that serves as the closing chapter for the influential group behind the 2006 hit "Crazy." The album *Atlanta* is a nod to the city where both members spent their formative years, with the new single "Pictures" specifically inspired by CeeLo Green's childhood memories of riding the MARTA public train. After their 2008 album *The Odd Couple*, "life and other creative pursuits intervened," but the duo reconnected in 2025 to complete their trilogy. Denzel Curry's project is the debut from his new supergroup, The Scythe, a collective that includes A$AP Ferg, Bktherula, TiaCorine, and Key Nyata. The album's sound is a deliberate homage to gritty, regional Southern hip-hop, hearkening back to the style of Curry's early days with the Raider Klan collective. For Ty Dolla $ign, *Girl Music Vol. 1* is a conscious return to his R&B roots, complete with a live band feel. The concept for the EP originated from a dinner conversation about the kind of music women really want to hear, leading to a project that intentionally blends generational talents like the legendary Brandy with contemporary R&B artist Leon Thomas. Yebba's new album, *Jean*, is her second full-length project, following her 2021 Grammy-nominated debut *Dawn*. The entirely self-written album is named after her late grandmother and explores themes of healing, forgiveness, and navigating her "adulting years," representing a shift from the grief that shaped her first record. The collaboration between underground rapper Nettspend and NBA Youngboy marks a major milestone for the 17-year-old Virginia native. Nettspend, born Gunner Shepardson, gained viral momentum on platforms like SoundCloud and TikTok in 2023 with his "jerk" and trap musical style. The new track from Juice WRLD and Marshmello continues a history of successful posthumous collaborations between the two. They previously topped the charts with "Come & Go" and "Hate The Other Side" from Juice WRLD's 2020 album *Legends Never Die*, which was the first album released after his death in late 2019.
