New LA Burger Spot Opens With Only Two Items
A new Los Angeles burger restaurant backed by a pro-skater and a Michelin-starred chef has opened with a radically simple menu featuring just two items. The concept aims to stand out by focusing on a highly curated, high-quality experience in LA's competitive food scene.
The restaurant, named NADC for "Not a Damn Chance," is the brainchild of professional skateboarder Neen Williams and Michelin-starred chef Phillip Frankland Lee. This is the tenth location for the burgeoning chain, which already has a presence in cities like Austin, New York, and Chicago. The new spot is located in Westwood, near the UCLA campus, and features skate memorabilia and '90s skate videos. Chef Phillip Frankland Lee is no stranger to culinary acclaim, holding a Michelin star at his Montecito restaurant, Sushi by Scratch, and another for five consecutive years at Pasta | Bar in Encino. In 2025, he and his brother made history as the first siblings to earn Michelin stars at different U.S. restaurants in the same year. NADC represents his foray into a fast-casual concept built around precision and high-quality ingredients. The menu's radical simplicity centers on a double-patty 100% Wagyu smashburger and beef tallow fries. The burger is meticulously constructed with grilled onions smashed into the patties, American cheese, pickles, jalapeños, and a house sauce on a toasted potato roll. The fries can be ordered "beast mode" style, adding cheese, pickles, jalapeños, and the house burger sauce. The concept for NADC developed from Williams' and Lee's friendship, initially starting as a passion project where they gave away burgers for free at skate parks and comedy clubs to build a following. This grassroots approach led to a viral sensation, with the burger gaining a cult following and celebrity fans like David Beckham and Zedd.
