Corey's Captive's War Sequel Coming

*The Captive's War* is a planned trilogy from James S. A. Corey, the pen name for writing duo Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck. The series kicked off in August 2024 with *The Mercy of Gods*, which introduced readers to a new universe distinct from their previous work. A novella titled *Livesuit* was also released in October 2024. The first novel establishes a universe where humanity on the planet Anjiin is conquered by a technologically superior alien empire, the Carryx. After a swift and brutal invasion that wipes out an eighth of the population, the Carryx abduct many of the planet's brightest minds. These captives are forced to prove their species' usefulness to their new overlords to ensure humanity's survival. The series protagonist is Dafyd Alkhor, a research assistant who, along with his scientific colleagues, must navigate the complex and dangerous society of their captors. The narrative explores themes of colonization, survival, and resistance under an oppressive regime. Unlike the hard science fiction of *The Expanse*, *The Captive's War* delves more into xenobiology and sociology. *The Faith of Beasts* will continue the story of humanity's struggle for survival within the Carryx empire. The plot will follow Dafyd Alkhor as he navigates his precarious position among the human captives, feared by those he is trying to save. A mysterious entity known as the Swarm, an enemy of the Carryx, has been hidden among the human slaves and may hold the key to the empire's destruction. Even before the second book's release, a television adaptation of *The Captive's War* was announced to be in development at Amazon, reuniting much of the creative team from *The Expanse* series. Naren Shankar is set to serve as showrunner, with Abraham and Franck on board as screenwriters.
