Registration is open for the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin’s 2026 convention in Tampa, a July gathering billed as one of the group’s biggest annual meetings. (aapiconvention.org) The 44th Annual Convention and Scientific Assembly is scheduled for July 2-5, 2026, at the JW Marriott Tampa Water Street and Tampa Marriott Water Street on Tampa’s downtown waterfront. (aapiconvention.org) The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin, founded in 1982, says it represents more than 80,000 practicing physicians in the United States. Its convention site says the Tampa meeting will include scientific sessions, continuing medical education and networking events. (aapiusa.org, aapiconvention.org) The meeting lands over the July 4 weekend in 2026, when the convention brochure says the organization plans to tie programming to the 250th anniversary of American independence. Organizers are marketing the event to physicians, trainees, sponsors and exhibitors. (aapiconvention.org) AAPI President Amit Chakrabarty said in an April announcement that the Tampa assembly is meant to bring together Indian-origin physicians from across the country under the theme “Stronger Together: United in Service, Inspiring the Future.” (theindianeye.com) The host committee has been building toward the event since at least September 2025, when AAPI held a Tampa kick-off and contract-signing ceremony with local partners. Coverage of that launch described the 2026 meeting as one of the largest physician gatherings in the Indian American community. (theindianpanorama.news, southasianherald.com) Organizers are also pitching the convention as a local business draw. AAPI Secretary Seema Arora said attendees are expected to spend on hotels, dining and transportation while in Tampa. (indicanews.com) The program page still lists details as “coming soon,” so the next marker for attendees is the buildout of the agenda as registration continues toward the July meeting.
