Microsoft pushes Copilot agents

Microsoft is pushing Copilot beyond chat prompts and toward software that can carry out work inside Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Microsoft also said Copilot can find open meeting times, send invites, and keep calendars updated based on custom instructions. On April 15, Satya Nadella also announced new Word features including word-level track changes, contextual comments, and table-of-contents management in Microsoft 365 Copilot. Its documentation says Copilot agents can retrieve information, summarize data, send emails, update records, and connect Microsoft 365 to third-party systems such as Salesforce and Dynamics. Microsoft described Work IQ in March as the system that helps Copilot and its agents stay grounded in current files, relationships, and work patterns.
