TASTE Myeongdong Opens on Orchard Road

TASTE Myeongdong is located at the Taste Orchard building at 160 Orchard Road, a short walk from Somerset MRT station. The food hall operates from 11:30 am to 10:30 pm daily. The project is helmed by the owners of Gamtan, a Korean restaurant in Telok Ayer. The seven concepts offer a curated tour of Korean cuisine. Gamtan Express serves rice bowls and a signature chicken tower, while Hoho Noodles specializes in knife-cut noodle dishes like kalguksu. O'Bok Bibimbap offers various bibimbap bowls, including a raw beef version, alongside grilled LA Galbi platters. Street food cravings are met by several stalls. Red Cup provides Korean-style fried chicken in cups, and Sindang Bul Dakbal offers snacks like tteokbokki and spicy chicken feet. Myung Dong Pocha completes the experience with Korean alcoholic beverages and bar bites. For dessert, Breaders, a brand with seven outlets in Korea, marks its first overseas venture at TASTE Myeongdong. They offer a variety of chilled Korean egg tarts with a creamy, molten-like center and a flaky crust, with flavors like Original, Crumble Blueberry, and Pecan Walnut. The food hall's design intentionally mimics Seoul's Myeongdong district, featuring "Myeongdong" signs reminiscent of the Seoul subway system. The seating includes shiny round tables and black seats with hidden storage underneath, a common feature in Korean eateries. Diners can enjoy a range of affordable options, with some mains starting from S$5.90. Lunch sets are also available, such as a Gamtan pork belly bowl with a mini Janchi noodle bowl starting at S$10.50. For groups, a Pocha Set Menu for four is available after 5 pm, featuring a spread of Korean street food favorites for $95.
