Universal Pictures is producing the Bon Jovi biopic, adding to their catalog of music-focused films like *8 Mile* and *Straight Outta Compton*. The film will feature Jon Bon Jovi's participation and access to the band's full music catalog, including hits like "Livin' on a Prayer" and "You Give Love a Bad Name". The movie will focus on Bon Jovi's early years, charting their formation and rise to stardom in the 1980s. It will reportedly highlight the creation of their breakthrough album, 1986's *Slippery When Wet*, which sold 30 million copies. Cody Brotter is writing the script, while Kevin J. Walsh and Gotham Chopra are producing. Gotham Chopra also directed the 2024 Hulu documentary *Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story*, which featured Jon Bon Jovi discussing his vocal issues and surgery. The band's current lineup includes original members David Bryan and Tico Torres, along with Hugh McDonald, John Shanks, Everett Bradley, and Phil X. Bon Jovi was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018. Casting details are under wraps, but some have suggested Jon Bon Jovi's son, Jake Bongiovi, or Miles Teller could play the lead. Jacob Elordi or Dacre Montgomery have been suggested for the role of Richie Sambora. A release date for the Bon Jovi biopic has not been announced.
